- In what grades, subjects, and courses will students be assessed under the new STAAR program?

- What is the timeline for establishing student performance standards for the STAAR program?

For answers to these questions and more, go to the Frequently Asked Questions page of the Texas Education Agency website.

Garland ISD Gifted and Talented - http://www.garlandisd.net/departments/gifted_talented/index.asp
Visit this site for more information on GT testing and requirements for students grade K-12 within GISD.

Other Duke TIP Programs - http://www.tip.duke.edu
For students who participate in the Elementary or Middle School Talent Searches, benefits continue on into high school. The Duke TIP Scholar Weekends are designed for students in grades 8-12 (depending on site) to take short courses during weekend-long programs. Courses introduce topics that might not be available in students’ local schools. They provide enrichment, a glimpse into the collegiate experience, and an opportunity to meet other similarly motivated students.

In addition, the Duke TIP Summer Studies Programs
offer students in grades 7-10 the opportunity to learn highly challenging material at a rate suited to their advanced abilities in a 3-week summer course.

Other options include e-studies and independent learning programs which offer high school students flexibility for pursuing areas of interest outside of school.
