GAPAGT is sponsoring a writing contest for GT students in grades 3 – 12.
Categories will include Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Graphic Novel.Entries will be due December 1st and winners will be announced at our meeting in January.The best entries will be published and released at a book party in the spring.Sound like fun?
Davidson Institute Seeks Extraordinary Achievers to Receive $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 Davidson Fellows Scholarships
The Davidson Institute Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships to extraordinary young people under the age of 18 who have completed a significant piece of work.
Application categories are Mathematics, Science, Literature, Music, Technology, Philosophy and Outside the Box. Davidson Fellows are honored every year in Washington, D.C. with Congressional meetings and a special reception.
To be eligible, applicants must be under the age of 18 as of Oct. 1, 2009, and a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident residing in the United States. There is no minimum age for eligibility. Applicants must submit an original piece of work recognized by experts in the field as significant and it must have the potential to make a positive contribution to society. Deadlines & Eligibility The deadline for the 2009 Davidson Fellows Scholarship is March 4, 2009. Other Scholarship Programs & Contests The Center for Gifted Studies - Think Out Loud PR Contest Prufrock Press - Creative Kids Writer's contest Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award The application for From the Top's $10,000 Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award is now available online. Approximately twenty-five student musicians will be selected annually to receive $10,000 to support his/her education and artistic development, perform on a live taping of National Public Radio show From the Top, and participate in a Cultural Leadership workshop in order to create and implement his/her own performance outreach activity. Applications are accepted on a rolling admission basis.
